MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He added that Thailand is interested in aviation equipment “which can be used in disaster management and in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and emergencies, such as fighting forest fires.”
"It would be nice if we could purchase equipment from Russia in exchange for Russian purchases of our agricultural goods and food for comparable sums in comparable amounts. If you [Russia] will buy our goods, we will have sufficient funds to purchase your equipment. We ask you to help us in this regard,” the prime minister told RIA Novosti.
Earlier this year, a source familiar with the situation told reporters that negotiations were underway for the purchase of more Mi-17V-5 helicopters by Thailand, adding that the deal was expected to be concluded by the end of 2016.
The volume of bilateral trade between Russia and Thailand amounted to $5 billion in 2015.
