Russia will spend over $10 billion on the 2018 World Cup, chief of the Russia 2018 Organizing Committee Alexei Sorokin announced.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – In March, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) noted great progress made in recent years by the Russia 2018 Organizing Committee in various directions in preparation for the 2018 World Cup.

"We will spend more than $10 billion, on all sites, for the preparation for the world championship and after it," Sorokin told journalists, reassuring that everything will be done in time and that Russia is on schedule.

According to Sorokin, three stadiums are already completed, while the two main ones are under construction.

"There are 7 more stadiums, they will be done by December, as planned," Sorokin said.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 Russian cities, including Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Saransk and Volgograd.
