MANAMA (Sputnik) — Iran supports terrorists by training them in camps on its territory, Bahraini Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Khalifah claimed Friday.
"Iran makes use of extremist groups, shelters wanted persons and trains terrorist groups in their camps," he said in an address to the Bahraini parliament.
The top diplomat also accused Tehran of smuggling arms and explosives to Bahrain.
In 2011, the Bahraini authorities blamed Iran for provoking Shia unrest in the Sunni-ruled kingdom.
In January 2016, Bahrain as well as Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic relations with Iran after Shia Muslims attacked the Saudi diplomatic mission in the country in protesting at the execution of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
