Volkswagen to Buy Back Faulty Cars Over Emissions Scandal
TOKYO (Sputnik) — On April 20, the Japanese car manufacturer admitted that it had falsified fuel consumption rate tests on the company's mini-cars.

According to the NHK broadcaster, the officials from the ministry started the investigation into the ways used by Mitsubishi Motors to manipulate the data.

The broadcaster added that the MLIT called the automobile company to submit the results of internal investigation by May 11, but it was not satisfied with the report provided by Mitsubishi Motors.

In 2014, South Korean carmakers, such as Hyundai, Kia were involved in similar scandals related to the falsification of fuel economy tests.
