MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Five men of ages between 21 and 33, Islamic preacher Musa Cerantonio among them, were detained on Tuesday for plotting to travel to other countries to join Daesh ranks, the Australian ABC News broadcaster said.
The group was reportedly detained after towing a 23-feet vessel from Australian southeastern city of Melbourne to northeastern Cape York, over 1,800 miles.
According to media reports, those detained were trying to reach Indonesia and the Philippines to subsequently travel to Syria to join Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries worldwide, including Russia.
The men will face a local court in the Australian northeastern city of Cairns on Monday.
