DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — The source added that four Syrian soldiers had been killed in the recapture.
"Daesh militants attacked three army positions in the mountainous El Hayal area and captured them. The army with the support of allied forces launched a counterattack and was able to return the positions, killing a large number of terrorists," the source said.
On March 27, Syrian government forces supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces and local militias liberated the ancient city of Palmyra from Daesh terrorist group, 10 months after its capture. The terrorist group has destroyed a significant part of Palmyra's historic ruins, which are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
