VIENNA (Sputnik) —The International Syria Support Group, an international format aimed to resolve the Syrian issues, was formed in November 2015 shortly after the beginning of the Syrian talks in Vienna.
The format currently involves Russia, the Arab League countries, the European Union and some of its member states, China, Iran, Turkey, the United Nations and the United States.
"The ISSG meeting will most likely result in the real decisions on the political transition and composition of the transitional governing body, as well as on the humanitarian and ceasefire issues. [UN Special Envoy Staffan] de Mistura will be given certain powers, a mandate, to voice these proposals to the participants of the intra-Syrian talks, thus giving them a push to break the deadlock," the source said.
