The so-called 'Belgium Cricket Team' landed in Lahore, with their expenses borne by the Pakistani government as the members had links with the Punjab Education and Sports Minister Rana Mashud.
As the fake Belgium Cricket Team played a series of matches in Lahore, not even the Pakistan Cricket Board was aware of their visit or their schedule.
Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau has opened an inquiry against Rana Mashud on the charges of financial irregularities.
This is not the first incident when a fake cricket team has arrived in Pakistan. Two years ago a fake British Cricket Team also visited Lahore.
Sources in the PML-N told Sputnik that through these methods they are trying to attract foreign teams to play in Pakistan since no international cricket team is willing to tour Pakistan due to security reasons after the attack on the Sri Lankan National team in Pakistan in 2009.
