MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to The Washington Post, the meeting will take place on Wednesday in New York.
Trump and Kissinger have held many phone conversations, and the Wednesday meeting will be their first face-to-face encounter, the newspaper reported.
Trump’s foreign policy has triggered much debate both nationwide and globally. During the presidential campaign, Trump has proposed stopping illegal immigration by building a wall on the US-Mexico border, and banning Muslims from entering the United States.
Kissinger served as US state secretary under President Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford in 1973-1977, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 for the ceasefire and withdrawal of US troops from Vietnam. Kissinger also pioneered the detente policy toward the Soviet Union and improved US relations with China.
