MOSCOW(Sputnik) — A 6.7-magnitude earthquake was registered at 07:57 GMT, 27 miles west from the town of Muisne.
The Security Coordination Ministry said data provided by local health authorities showed that five people had received minor injuries when trying to leave their homes. A collapsed wall also injured a person in Muisne.
"Those affected received prompt medical attention," the ministry said in a statement.
It added that crucial infrastructure facilities, such as dams and factories, had not been affected. Officials denied reports of an ammonia leak at a Portoviejo factory.
