MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In the letter, dated February 2, Abrini said that the death of his brother in a suicide bombing in Syria in July 2014 had pushed him to join Daesh.
He praised the Paris terrorist attack and expressed regret that he did not die as a martyr as well, according to French news channel BFMTV.
The statement was found on a computer in the suspect's hideout on March 22, the day of the Brussels attack.
Abrini was detained in Brussels two weeks after the airport bombings. He is suspected of having connection to Paris bombings suspect Salah Abdeslam, who was detained in Belgium in March.
