SOCHI (Sputnik) — Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Le Luong Minh said on Thursday that there is progress in economic cooperation with Russia during the recent 10 years.
"We have made quite a progress within last 10 years in the area of economic cooperation between ASEAN-Russia," he told reporters at the Russia-ASEAN summit in Russia's southern resort of Sochi.
ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The association was set up on August 8, 1967 to accelerate economic, social and cultural development in the region.
Russia is an ASEAN dialogue partner. On May 19-20, Sochi hosts the Russia-ASEAN summit, marking the 20th anniversary of the partnership.
