KIEV (Sputnik) — Nine people died in the Wednesday crash of the Azerbaijani An-12 cargo plane, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's Directorate General for Consular Service said Thursday.
"As a result of the crash, nine people died (two Ukrainian citizens, one Uzbek citizen, six Azerbaijani citizens), one citizen of Ukraine has been hospitalized (in stable condition in intensive care) in the city of Kandahar," the directorate said on Facebook.
The nine people on board the plane were crew members, according to Azerbaijan's Civil Aviation Authority. The plane was said to be on loan from the Silk Way air carrier to perform cargo missions in Afghanistan.
