MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to The Jerusalem Post newspaper, the projectiles were fired Thursday from northern Gaza.
Earlier this month, Israeli forces discovered a secret cross-border tunnel in Gaza leading to Israel. According to the military, over the last three days Hamas has attacked Israeli forces at least 12 times. Israeli forces have in turn responded with tank fire and carried out four airstrikes.
In the summer of 2014, a two-month Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip, dubbed Operation Protective Edge, led to the deaths of an estimated 2,200 Palestinians and 72 Israelis.
Israel imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip in 2007, after Hamas won control of the exclave following a decisive victory of the Fatah party in the Palestinian legislative election the year before.
