With the aim of remove these hurdles and establishing itself as one of the leading centers of international scientific exchange, India is soon going to open five major 'science cities' across the country.

Making this announcement at a function in New Delhi, Junior Minister for Science and Technology Y. S. Chawdary said:
"If we are able to create a proper ecosystem like bird migration we can definitely attract many scientists from foreign countries because of environmental conditions. Our country gives them very good weather conditions as there are many countries where we do not have productivity more than 4-5 months, at the most six months, so that is one area where we are seriously thinking."
According to the Ministry of Science & Technology, each Science City will have state-of-the-art facilities for research in advanced technology. They will have facilities like research labs, education academies and hospitality and convention centers. The high end research laboratories can also serve as start-up incubators.
