WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — St. Louis County in the US state of Missouri decided to drop the charges filed against two reporters who were arrested while covering protests in the city of Ferguson in 2014, according to local media.
"Missouri’s St. Louis County has agreed to drop charges… concluding a nearly two-year-long drama that unfolded in the aftermath of the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown," the Washington Post reported on Thursday.
The reporters from The Washington Post and the Huffington Post were arrested in August of 2014, and charged with trespassing and interfering with a police office.
The Washington Post reported the charges were dropped as part of a settlement in which the reporters agreed not to sue the county.
The two reporters were covering the protests that erupted after a police officer shot and killed an unarmed African-American teenager, Michael Brown.
