SOCHI (Sputnik) — Russia intends to develop the idea of broad economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said on Thursday during the ASEAN-Russia summit in Sochi.
“There is one more interesting initiative proposed by the Russian Federation. It is about a broad economic partnership between the EEU, ASEAN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” Morgulov said.
On May 19-20, Sochi hosts the Russia-ASEAN summit. ASEAN comprises Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
