SOCHI (Sputnik) — Indonesia is ready to welcome increased crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Russia, the director general of oil and gas at the Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said Thursday.
"Indonesia can offer Russia several opportunities for investment into energy sector. Our crude oil production is 830,000 barrels per day, but our consumption is almost double. This is a very good opportunity for Russia to supply crude oil for us. The similar situation [is] with our LNG import. There is a good opportunity for Russia to supply LNG for us," Wiratmaja Puja said at the plenary session of Russia-ASEAN Business Forum in Sochi.
"This is a good opportunity for Russia to invest in Indonesia and benefit from its economic growth through strengthening our partnership in the sphere of energy," Puja added.
On Wednesday, the presidents of Indonesia and Russia agreed to step up bilateral cooperation on trade and investment at a meeting in Russia's southern city of Sochi.
