WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The WikiLeaks revelation of previous clandestine communications between interim Brazilian President Michel Temer and the US government exposed their previously secret prior relationship, international financial whistleblower Stephanie Gibaud told Sputnik.
"So much information relating to the common good has been hidden from the general public namely in terms of politics and finance, in terms of strategic alliances and in terms of intelligence," Gibaud said.
On May 12, WikiLeaks released two US diplomatic cables which contain Temer's detailed report on the prospects to defeat the Brazilian leader Lula da Silva in the 2006 presidential election.
Gibaud noted that the WikiLeaks revelation had exposed secret ties between the United States and Temer that preceded by a decade the political coup last week forcing Brazil’s twice constitutionally-elected President Dilma Rousseff from power.
"With WikiLeaks and all the whistleblowers standing up with courage for truth, everyone can now access what had been secretly decided, managed and hidden by some of our political leaders," Gibaud observed.
On Tuesday, Brazilian media reported that the country’s Supreme Court would consider a request on impeaching Temer.
Temer is reportedly being accused of crimes similar to those for which Rousseff was impeached.
Brazil's Senate voted 55-22 earlier this month to start impeachment proceedings against Rousseff after she was accused of concealing the country’s budget deficit ahead of the 2014 re-election. Rousseff called the impeachment process "a coup."
Stephanie Gibaud worked for UBS France in Paris, where she played a decisive role in blowing the whistle on the practices of tax evasion and the laundering of the proceeds of tax fraud in UBS AG (Switzerland) with the complicity of UBS France.
