India's Power Minister Piyush Goyal was left embarrassed as he briefed the nation on his ministry's achievements over the last two years.
"In a significant transformation, India has become power surplus from chronic power shortage. The highest-ever increase in transmission lines and sub-stations improved the transmission scenario resulting in the energy deficit falling to its lowest ever at 2.1% in 2015-16," at which point the power went off, leaving the minister perplexed.
The Minister tried astutely to cover up, "My wife tells me that power should go off once in every program I hold so that I can be sure I have miles to go before I rest and sleep." But his wits failed as the power-cut happened three times during the press conference.
The public wasted no time to poke fun on social media.
