The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, surprised everyone when she performed to the ‘Kalinka’ song during a summit in Sochi. Below is a list of the most memorable dances from politicians from around the world.

At a reception for journalists on May 19 at the Russia — ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Maria Zakharova told the press in advance that she would dance.

“I promise that the program of the evening will be Russian folk dances. I will dance to Kalinka,” Zakharova said and she kept her promise. She performed in 15-inch heels like a pro.

USA
In March 2016, President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle performed a tango dance with different partners at a reception of the President of Argentina.

However Barack Obama danced quite well even before he became president. In 2007, as a senator, he demonstrated his dance moves during The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Obama's predecessor George W. Bush also danced, but not as willingly. At a reception at the White House he was forced to dance an African dance. Bush looked a little taken aback (note his reaction at 37 seconds), but he still managed to make a couple of catchy moves.
It does seem that American presidents have had a knack for dancing since forever. Back in the 40s US President Ronald Regan and his wife Nancy performed a classical ball dance in Washington in January 1985.
CANADA
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who came to power in October 2015, once danced an Indian Bhangra at a Canada-India reception.  His dance was as good as those of his Indian hosts.
HUNGARY
In February 2006, former Hungarian prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, who headed the government in 2004-2009, surprised everyone with an unusual video in which he danced like Hugh Grant in the film ‘Love Actually’.

Gyurcsany said he loves to watch this movie with his friends during the New Year holidays. The idea to perform to this song came before the wedding of his friends; eventually he gave them the dance tape as a wedding present.

IRELAND
Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny is still far from his Hungarian colleague: he is just learning to dance. In May 2014, Kenny danced a simple dance to the song ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams during a festival in Dublin. Although somewhat stiff, his dance turned out quite nice.
ARGENTINA
Former president of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who ruled the country from 2007 to 2015, also knows how to move and groove. Before leaving her executive position, she appeared at a rally in Buenos Aires where she performed a ‘Bunny’ dance. The video of her dance went viral on social media.
ROMANIA
In Romania, if anyone knows how to dance, it is the deputy Edmond Talmatsian. In April 2011, he turned up the heat to a song by Michael Jackson on a local talk show. He wanted to show young people that “politics is not so boring.”
RUSSIA
In Russia, politicians have always been able to sing, dance and play musical instruments. A particularly memorable dance was performed by Russia’s first president Boris Yeltsin in 1996.
