MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United States allegedly killed on Saturday Mullah Mansour, the leader of Taliban movement in Afghanistan in an airstrike, US media reported.
The CNN broadcaster reported, citing Pentagon, that the airstrike against Mansour was conducted in a remote area near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
The broadcaster added that Washington was still assessing the results of the airstrike and would provide more information if the death of the insurgent confirmed.
The drone strike, which was authorised by US President Barack Obama, took place at 10:00 GMT southwest of the town of Ahmad Wal, an anonymous US official said, according to Reuters.
