MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The militants, believed to be nationals of Pakistan, were killed in an airstrike carried out by a foreign drone in the eastern Afghan province bordering Pakistan, the TOLO News broadcaster reported, citing a local government spokesman.
A Daesh commander was among the militants, the channel said, adding that the group had been trying to carry out attacks in the area.
Security in Afghanistan has drastically deteriorated in recent months as both Taliban insurgents and Daesh, outlawed in Russia, the United States and several other countries, have expanded their activities in the country's east and south.
