WASHINGTON/MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The plane crashed early Monday outside Port Allen Airport on the island’s southern shore during a skydiving tour, the ABC broadcaster’s KITV affiliate reported, citing fire officials.
Four were reportedly pronounced dead at the scene, and one died in hospital.
The Federal Aviation Administration was cited as saying the plane crashed at takeoff under unknown circumstances.
The National Transportation Safety Board will work with officials to help determine the cause of the crash, the outlet added. Firefighters, police and medics remain at the scene of the crash.
