"Under Mansur's leadership of the Taliban, the Taliban has continued to wage a deadly campaign of attacks against US, Afghan and Coalition Forces and has been actively planning high-profile attacks in Kabul and across Afghanistan," Stump stated.
Stump added that the United States will continue aiding peace process in Afghanistan.
"We will continue to take all necessary actions to keep our personnel safe in Afghanistan and to promote stability there, even as we simultaneously work to set the conditions for a peace process between the Afghan government and the Taliban," Stump noted.
Afghanistan is experiencing significant political, social and security-related instability, as radical extremist organizations, including the Taliban, continue to stage attacks against civilian and government targets.
