MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Greece sees Russian involvement in Syria as positive thinking that the political settlement of the Syrian crisis can eliminate one of the reasons for illegal migration to Europe, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov said Thursday.
"Athens sees Russian activities in Syria as positive thinking that the political settlement of the Syrian crisis can eliminate one of the reasons for illegal migration to Europe from which Greece is suffering greatly," Ushakov said.
More than 1.8 million refugees are estimated to have arrived in the European Union in 2015, according to the European border agency Frontex.
