The impeachment trial of Brazil’s suspended President Dilma Rousseff who is accused in widening budget deficit ahead of the 2014 re-election may end in early August, according to a state news agency.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The impeachment trial of Brazil’s suspended President Dilma Rousseff may end in early August, a state news agency reported Thursday.

Rousseff stepped down for 180 days earlier this month after the Senate voted to start the impeachment process against her on accusations that she concealed a widening budget deficit ahead of the 2014 re-election. Vice President Michel Temer became the acting head of state.

The schedule of the impeachment commission, seen by the national news agency Agencia Brasil, shows that the parliament is due to hold the final vote on August 1 or 2.

Both chambers of the parliament will vote on the final report by committee’s rapporteur Sen. Antonio Anastasia who will commend or oppose Rousseff’s removal. The ballot will be held by simple majority.
