NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Moscow and New Delhi have determined 14 countries, which may procure the Indo-Russian supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles, BrahMos Aerospace enterprise spokesman Praveen Pathak said Friday.
"The Russia-India committee has determined 14 countries, with which we can discuss the supplies [of BrahMos missiles]. The list includes Chile, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa among others," Pathak told RIA Novosti.
According to Pathak, the countries, which maintain good relations with both Russia and India, are in the list.
The first contract can be signed in 2016, the spokesman added.
BrahMos is a short-range supersonic missile, which has been in use by the Indian Navy since 2005. The missile has a range of 180 miles and can carry a conventional warhead of up to 660 pounds.
Manufacturer of the missile, BrahMos Aerospace, is an India-Russia joint company named after the rivers Brahmaputra and Moskva.
