The sanctions include "special economic and other restrictive measures" against individuals who allegedly create "real and potential threats to national interests" and will be in force until December 31, 2017.

The restrictions target, among others, editor-in-chief of RT and Rossiya Segodnya Margarita Simonyan, Channel One director Konstantin Ernst, TASS news agency director Sergei Mikhailov and LifeNews head Ashot Gabrelyanov. The list includes a total of 17 names.

Ukraine also has lifted an entry ban earlier imposed on 29 foreign journalists, including several members of Rossiya Segodnya news agency staff, according to a presidential decree.
