MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Amber’s divorce petition was filed on Monday with the actress seeking spousal support from Depp.
A statement from Heard filed on Friday in support of the restraining order says that Depp "violently attacked" his wife on Saturday night, throwing a cellphone in her face.
Heard also claims that there have been other instances of domestic violence in the course of her marriage to Depp, which lasted for just over a year.
Depp’s lawyers claim as quoted by The Guardian on Friday that "Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse."
Heard’s divorce filing came right after Depp’s mother passed away on May 20.
Johnny Depp married Amber Heard in February 2015. According to Us Magazine, the two met in 2009, while they were cast in the film "The Rum Diary." The couple have a 22-year age difference.
Depp was previously in a 14-year relationship with French singer, model and actress Vanessa Paradis, but the two never married.
