The Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee (HNC) wants to unite opposition movements which share popular demands but are not part of the delegation at this moment, HNC spokesman Riyad Naasan Agha said Monday.

DUBAI (Sputnik) — According to him, the recent changes in the HNC leadership do not mean that the delegation is changing its stance in the intra-Syria talks.

"We want to unite opposition forces which are not part of the committee but which believe in the popular demands," the representative said on his Facebook page.

Syria's HNC Restructuring Negotiations Team After Alloush's Resignation
A Syrian government delegation, as well as three opposition groups — the Riyadh-formed HNC, the Moscow-Cairo and the Hmeymim groups have been taking part in the UN-mediated Geneva talks.

The latest round of intra-Syrian talks took place in Geneva on April 13-27. The HNC walked out of the negotiations, citing the continuous fighting in Syria and the lack of progress on humanitarian issues.

Lon Sunday, HNC’s chief representative Mohammed Alloush announced his resignation over the failure of the peace talks to bring a political settlement in Syria.
