MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, German journalist Hajo Seppelt said that German television broadcaster ARD would show a new documentary about doping abuse in Russian sport on June 8. The next IAAF Council meeting will be held in the Austrian capital of Vienna on June 17.
"They are announcing yet another film… I can assume that again there will be the demonstration of yet another documentary or an article right before the IAAF Council Meeting on May 17. It'll be something along the lines that Russians cannot be trusted, and so forth," Mutko told R-Sport.
In December 2014, ARD released a film titled "The Doping Secret: How Russia Creates Champions" on alleged doping abuse and corruption in Russian sports. The second installment of the film followed on December 7 and the third was released on March 6, 2016.
The Russian authorities have promised to carry out a clean-up program to fulfill the WADA demands in order for the country's athletes to be allowed to participate in the 2016 Olympics.
