After a nuclear scientist claimed that Pakistan could “target” the Indian capital in just five minutes, envoy was dispatched to pronounce war is not a solution to the problems between the two neighbors.

"War is not a solution between both countries. Only foolish people would consider war as a solution to the problems," Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit said on Tuesday during an interactive program with Indian media.

India-Pakistan CBM on the Way Signaling Slight Thaw in Relations
Two days earlier, addressing a conference on the 18th anniversary of Pakistan's first nuclear test, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, an architect of the country's nuclear program, said that Pakistan has the capability to target New Delhi in five minutes from Kahuta, a city in the Punjab Province. His comments were followed by a storm of criticism.

Basit also noted that Pakistan wants to resolve all disagreements with India through peaceful talks and that the two countries must have "result oriented" engagement. "We hope that the dialogue process will resume, because all our issues can be resolved through talks," he said.

Pakistan's High Commissioner also spoke about the Pathankot incident, mentioning that "the dialogue process between India and Pakistan has not resumed."

"We're maintaining cooperation on Pathankot. Let's hope we'll be able to get to the bottom of that incident," Basit added.

Since the surprise visit of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Pakistan in December 2015, there have been no talks between the two nations concerning the Pathankot air base attack.
