YouGov have come up with a list of fictional characters from popular TV shows and asked the public how they think they may vote in the EU referendum.

With the nation still divided over the upcoming EU vote, YouGov looked at several fictional characters from famous TV shows and asked how they would vote in the upcoming referendum.

The EU referendum will take place on the 23rd June. It has been subject of many heated debates for months and has captured the lips of most politicians.

Prime Minister David Cameron is firmly in the Remain camp, otherwise known as Bremain. Whereas the fellow friend and foe, Boris Johnson, sits with team Brexit.

Both politicians have strong reasons for wanting to stay or leave the EU and as the UK enter the final weeks before Brits hit the polling booths.

Last Orders! British Boozer Backs Brexit

Both camps have resorted to using celebrity endorsements which have included Benedict Cumberbatch (Bremain), Emma Thompson (Bremain), Michael Caine (Brexit) and Katie Hopkins (Brexit).

But the question still remains how some of most well known and loved would vote?

With this in mind, YouGov asked voters how they thought 30 different fictional characters might vote on June 23rd. The full list, ranging from Postman Pat to Bridget Jones, has been ordered by a Net-Remain Score. Those at the top are viewed as most likely to vote remain whilst those at the bottom as most likely to vote leave.

Geraldine Granger, played by Dawn French in the popular sitcom The Vicar of Dibley, led the Bremain camp and would vote to stay in the EU. With a +21 net remain score, the Vicar stood firm and believes in a united Europe. She was followed by everybody’s favorite nanny, Mary Poppins. Dr Who, was also fighting for team remain and he had a +9 net remain score.

For the Brexit camp however, the leader with a —38 net remain score was Jim Royale from the show the Royale Family. He was followed by hotel owner Basil Fawlty who had an —36 net remain score. Mr Bean, as well as Staines' finest, Ali G, were thought to have difficulty in making it to a polling station and thus would be unable to vote in the EU referendum.

There were also some surprises within the YouGov vote, despite recent polls showing that the Scots would vote yes to stay within the EU, the results from this survey said that Groundskeeper Willie, the famous Scotsman from The Simpsons, would vote in favor of leaving the EU, with 23 percent of  people thinking he would Brexit.

However, there were some people undecided, these characters were sitting on the fence and the public certainly didn’t know how they would vote. Bob the Builder was unsure, 22 per cent of people thought he would vote to remain, whereas 21 per cent thought he would vote to leave. He was not the only vote swinger, with David Brent from the Office also causing confusion on what way he would vote.
