"Regarding the politics of Qatar as a whole, the leadership of our country has never bound politics and the economy. And if, say, there are some political problems, this should in no way affect the relations between our business communities. I would like to emphasize and convey that to the business representatives of the two countries," Suwaidi said at a meeting of Russian and Qatari businesspeople.
Speaking about the bilateral relations between Moscow and Doha, the diplomat noted that following the Russian-Qatari Business Council creation "Qatar reaffirms its desire and readiness to establish relations with the Russian business community."
"In addition, the constant business meetings between the representatives of the two countries are mutually beneficial and useful. I must say that both Russia and Qatar have great investment opportunities, so the meetings should help get more acquainted with the opportunities," Suwaidi stated.
In 2007, a agreement on the establishment of the Russian-Qatari Business Council was signed. In 2010, the creation of the Russian-Qatari commission on gas and energy cooperation, as well as the intergovernmental Russian-Qatari commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation was agreed. In 2010-2014, bilateral annual trade turnover was on average about $54 million.
