OSCE Ukraine Monitoring Mission to Boost Video Surveillance
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — There is no agreement on the potential Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) police mission to eastern Ukraine but it could be discussed if the position of Donbas militia is taken into account, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

"Actually, the situation is very simple. Allegations that there are records of the Normandy Quartet conversations somehow indicating that the Russian side agreed to the deployment of an OSCE police mission, are not true," Peskov told reporters.

He stressed that there were no agreements on the subject.

"There is a willingness to discuss this issue, and at the same time there is an understanding that the adoption of any decisions without taking into account the position of the representatives of Donbas is not possible," Peskov added.

He also said that the option of a monitoring mission on the line of contact was under consideration.

The OSCE has been tasked with monitoring the implementation of the Minsk deal provisions on settling the conflict between Kiev and the pro-independence militias in the country's east. The Minsk accords include a full ceasefire and weapons withdrawal from the line of contact. The SMM reports on ceasefire violations by both sides.
