KIEV (Sputnik) — Ukraine has increased its volumes of gas transit by 34 percent year-on-year since the start of 2016, delivering over 31 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe, the UKRTRANSGAZ gas transportation system operator said Thursday.
"From January to May, 31.3 billion cubic meters of fuel were transported to European consumers through the Ukrainian gas transportation system, which is 34 percent above last year's indicators," the company said in a press statement.
In May, the company transported 6.5 billion cubic meters of gas, 20.6 percent above May 2015, according to the statement. The daily transport volume amounts to 203 million cubic meters.
In 2015, Ukraine increased its gas transit volume almost 8 percent compared to 2014, transporting 67.1 billion cubic meters to Europe.
