KIEV (Sputnik) – Ukraine’s upper parliament on Thursday passed legislation to amend the law on the status of judges and their employment, which is a necessary step in reforming the country’s judicial system.
The bill was passed by 281 parliament members from the needed 226 votes.
The new amendment removes the upper parliament’s right to appoint or remove judges.
