BERLIN (Sputnik) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her Cabinet's ministers are set to visit China on June 12-14 to attend intergovernmental consultations in Beijing, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said Friday.
"The chancellor and members of the government will arrive in Beijing on June 12 to attend consultations between German and Chinese governments. They are to be held on June 13. On Monday, Chinese-German Economic Advisory Committee (DCBWA) will meet as well," Seibert told journalists.
He added that Merkel would go to the city of Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, as part of her Chinese trip.
Germany is China's major trading partner among the EU countries with bilateral trade reaching nearly 163 billion euro ($181.6 billion) in 2015. German exported goods worth 71.2 billion euro ($79.3 billion) to China and imported Chinese goods of over 91.5 billion euro ($102 billion).
