BAGHDAD (Sputnik) – The Iraqi Army and militias, backed by US airstrikes, launched the offensive to retake Fallujah on May 22. The city has been under the control of the Daesh militant group since 2014. The group is outlawed in the United States and Russia.
"In the first day of the operation to liberate Fallujah, the terrorists put up the toughest resistance… Now it [the resistance] is waning. According to our intelligence data, the terrorists are running out of food and ammunition," Yahya Rasul Zubaidi told RIA Novosti.
