MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces freed five villages on the outskirts of the city of Manbij in Syrian Aleppo province from the Daesh terrorists Friday, a Kurdish source told Sputnik.
At least 12 terrorists were killed in Friday fights, the source said.
SDF, backed by the US-led coalition, launched an offensive on the north-west of Aleppo on Wednesday province against the IS and released six villages near Manbij on Thursday.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups, including the Daesh, banned in Russia and many countries.
