Pilot Killed in F-18 Jet Crash in Tennessee Identified

The US Navy announced it had identified a pilot who died in an F-18 jet crash during an airshow in Tennessee on Thursday.

Blue Angels Jet Crashes During Practice Near Nashville, Tennessee
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The pilot who died in an F-18 jet crash at Smyrna Airport, Tennessee on Thursday, has been identified as Capt. Jeff Kuss, the US Navy said in a press release.

"Blue Angel #6 [jet] was flown by Capt. Jeff Kuss, 32, of Durango, Co[lorado]," the Navy stated on Friday. "This was Kuss' second year on the team and his first year as a demonstration pilot."

The Navy added that the cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

The demonstration squadron, popularly known as the Blue Angels, had been scheduled to perform during the Great Tennessee Airshow set for June 4-5.
