MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A survey published by UK market research agency Opinium late Friday found that 43 percent backed the Remain campaign. Forty-one percent said they intended to vote to stay in the European Union.
"I think it [the race] is close, and I think the reason it is close is that this establishment campaign is blowing it," UK shadow chancellor John McDonnell told The Guardian’s sister newspaper The Observer on Saturday.
Opinium’s previous May poll for The Observer showed 44 percent were in favor of staying in and 40 percent for leaving the 28-nation bloc.
Brits are set to vote on June 23 in a referendum on the country's EU membership, after Prime Minister David Cameron and 27 EU leaders agreed in February to grant the United Kingdom a special status within the bloc.
