MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Reuters reported citing the UK-based NGO, the Syrian Obsevatory for Human Rights, that an unidentified warplane had crashed in Aleppo.
The cause of the crash was not reported, however, the NGO did not rule out that the jet could have been downed.
"All Russian Aerospace Forces' war planes are at the Hmeymim airbase," Konashenkov told reporters.
Earlier in the day, the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation said that al-Nusra Front terrorists and Ahrar ash-Sham militants shelled Syrian government forces in Aleppo.
Earlier this month, Washington asked Moscow to direct its airstrikes solely at al-Nusra Front and refrain from targeting so-called "moderate" rebels, working with al-Qaeda's branch in Syria.
On Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged the US to convince those rebel groups which they support in Syria to leave areas where al-Nusra Front militants are present.
