MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Democratic Convention will take place in Philadelphia on July 25-28 at the end of the primary race. If no candidate has enough pledged delegates, it will be contested.

"Hillary Clinton will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to win the Democratic nomination…The Democratic National Convention will be a contested convention," Sanders told reporters in Los Angeles, as quoted by CNN.

Clinton is a frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, with 2,313 delegates, of whom 1,769 are pledged. Sanders has a total of 1,547 delegates, of whom 1,501 are pledged. He hopes to win over Clinton’s superdelegates, who are free to vote for any candidate at the convention.
