In this inspiring tale, a dog and his master, farmer Gurdev Singh, were sleeping outside of their house in the village of Barbatpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Friday night. The four-year-old dog named Jacky lay near Singh, guarding him while he slept, when tiger snuck upon the two. Jacky tried to warn his master of the danger. Singh stumbled out of his sleep, but the tiger was already lunged for the attack. The dog valiantly jumped at the tiger in an attempt to protect his master. By the time the farmer was ready to defend himself and raised the alarm, the tiger had seriously injured the dog and dragged him away.
After hours of desperate search, poor Jacky's body was found some distance away. The heroic dog was buried with honors by the Singh family and other villagers, according to the Times of India newspaper.
"I wish humans could learn from him how to love others and show devotion," said the grieving farmer.
