MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Media experts from 30 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, India, China, Armenia, Egypt, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates, take part in the event hosted by the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency. The forum has opened with the session called "The journalist in the post-mainstream age," where Russian and foreign experts are expected to analyze media market trends and to discuss the features of the so-called post-mainstream age, trying to reveal regularities of its development.

Among those who will speak during the first day of the forum are Dmitry Kiselev (Russia), Rossiya Segodnya International Media Group Director General; Alexei Volin (Russia), Russia's Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media; Ghassan Ben Jeddou (Lebanon), Chairman of Board of Directors of Al Mayadeen TV; Eva Golinger (the United States), journalist; Ahmad Dawa (Syria), Director General and Editor-In-Chief of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA); Konstantin Dolgov (Russia), Russian Foreign Ministry Special Representative for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, Ambassador-at-Large; Frank La Rue (France), Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Communication and Information; and Liam Halligan (the United Kingdom), Economics Commentator, The Telegraph Media Group.

A number of cooperation agreements between leading international media are expected to be signed on the sidelines of the forum.

The organizers of the forum have a simple yet complex goal: to highlight and discuss the processes taking place in modern media all over the world, find general trends and understand the differences. What are the professional standards for media of the post-mainstream era? How do the new media develop? What factors and technologies determine the work of reporters? Where does the freedom of distribution of information start and where does it end? How are the Internet, media and digital projects incorporated in the new media reality? All these questions, which are pressing for both Russian and foreign journalism, will be discussed by the media experts during the forum.
