MOSCOW, June 7 (Sputnik) — Journalism should be objective and there can be no repression of journalists for spreading information, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday at the New Era of Journalism: Farewell to Mainstream forum hosted by Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.
"There can be no situations where certain authorities like certain information, protecting it and talking abut press freedom, but when they don't like it, they dismiss it as propaganda serving the interests of some political groups or specific countries."
According to the president, "information should be objective in all respects and not subjected to any repressive actions aimed at adjusting it."
