Russian Duma Obliges Nationals to Report on Marriages, Births Abroad

The State Duma, the lower chamber of the Russian parliament, adopted on Wednesday a draft bill, which obliges Russian nationals to inform the authorities about their marriages or children births registered abroad, Russian media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the RBC news portal, the draft bill obliges the Russian nationals to report any official records of births, deaths and marriages registered abroad. The bill was approved by 350 lawmakers while one lawmaker voted against it.

The amendment was introduced by the country's Finance Ministry and approved by the government's Committee for legislative drafting activities in May.
