The fish’s tail was pointing outside the back of the jellyfish and together they swam as the fish propelled them forward with its tail.
Samuel took a picture of this unusual duo and posted it to his Instagram account. That was back in December.
On Tuesday, however, Discover Ocean website republished the image. That’s when it went viral!
“When @franny.plumridge and I stumbled upon it we knew we had found something special, but had no idea just how unique and rare this sighting was. I'm completely blown away by all the attention it is getting from all over the world,” Samuel wrote on his Instagram.
Samuel posted the picture to Reddit and it was in the trending list two times straight.
In his years of photographing marine life, Samuel hasn’t seen a similar scene before, National Geographic reported.
Samuel thought about setting the fish free from the jellyfish but at the last moment decided not to interfere and let the nature run its course.
